The state of Utah opened its Renewable Energy Rebate Program a few days ago. The funds come from the state’s share of federal stimulus money for renewable energy.

Utah homeowners, small businesses and non-profits can apply for rebates for new solar photovoltaic, solar thermal and wind power systems. Homeowners can receive up to $8,750 and businesses and non-profits up to $50,000, depending on what they install and how much it costs. Applicants must first receive a bid or itemized contract from an installer, then fill out the application form and mail it to the Utah State Energy Program. Only new system installations initiated after April 19 are eligible and the system must be grid-tied, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
