Plug-in-AmericaPlug In America is a 501c3 organization that advocates for the use of battery electric and plug in hybrid vehicles powered by renewable energy.

As electic vehicles slowly but surely make their way onto our roads and into our garages, Plug in America promotes their reliability and performance.  As their website states, electric vehicles require "no oil changes and no tune ups. EVs have 10 times fewer moving parts than a gasoline powered car. There's no engine, transmission, spark plugs, valves, fuel tank, tailpipe, distributor, starter, clutch, muffler or catalytic converter."

Plug in America makes the case that in order to achieve zero emission driving, the electric grid, into which the EV is plugged, must also be green. The organization advocates for the immediate implementation of energy efficiencies and large scale renewable power options.

Plug in America goes into depth about specific things users can do to accelerate the adpotion of electric vehicles including:

  • Buy one
  • Install a charging station at your home
  • Become a member of Plug In America
  • Donate to the organization
  • Host a party and share your passion for electric vehicles with others
  • Write to your elected officials to expedite legislation that makes electric vehicles a priority

This blog is part of an on-going series highlighting thought leaders in the Non Profit sector.  Visit our web map to find electric vehicle charging station installers where you live.

The Politics of Energy - Educated Voices Needed

The next two years will be challenging for advocates of clean energy in America.

The new Republican majority in Congress is threatening to rollback the progress of the past 6 years.  Fossil fuels (tar sands oil, coal and natural gas) are their energy sources of choice - with renewable energy (solar, wind, geothermal) pushed aside and starved of funding.

That is why the non-profit organizations we are highlighting in this series need your support.  They have the means to educate - to inspire - to call to action - the people (like you) that can make a real difference in the debate - and keep us moving on the road to clean energy.

Save Money, Save Energy

DASolar is here to help...

We blog about all types of renewable energy. Our goal is to help explain the technology and the benefits of solar, wind, geothermal and other forms of alternative energy - and deliver those benefits to you.
